Fitz greated imaginary Simmons because no one around him would talk to him like he was a normal person.
As soon as Mac started talking to him he no longer looked for Simmons to find the words he was missing. Instead he looked to Mac for them.
All he needed was a friend to talk to like he wasnt broken.
